In 1990 when he was still quite young, Mauro Tortorelli made his début with his teacher Georg Mönch, at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, in a piece for two violins by Luigi Nono. Tortorelli attended the advanced violin course al the Accademia Musicale Chigiana under F. Gulli and later under B. Belkin.

Winner of the first prize at the international Isola di Capri Competition and a finalist at the International Violin Competition ‘Giovanni Battista Viotti’, he began a career that has included engagements with the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, the European Community Youth Orchestra (ECYO) and the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra, and for prestigious musical associations (Oratorio del Gonfalone in Rome, Auditorium RAI in Naples, Alghero Festival, Festival Pontino, Barattelli Association, Ravello Festival, Salzburger Schlosskonzerte, Kennedy Center in Washington, Dubai Knowledge Village Auditorium and elsewhere.

As well as his solo repertoire, he also devotes interest to chamber music, working with such artist as F. Maggio Ormezowski, R. De Saram, A. Gutu, F. Petracchi, A. Ghedin,  and with some of the leading players of important Italian orchestras.
