Alexander Boldachev was born in St. Petersburg in 1990.  Having mastered the piano and the harp, at the age of five, Alexander began his concert activity and at the same time, he wrote his first work as a composer.  In 1996, he became a member of the Children's Christmas Festival, performing a work by Sergei Slonimsky written especially for him. In 1997 he started as a student of the Lyceum at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in harp with Karina Maleeva and in  composition with Svetlana Lavrova. At the age of nine, Alexander began his international career performing a concert with the State Orchestra of Lithuania. During the following years, he won many international competitions for harp and composition, participating in festivals and international harp conferences in addition to  concert activity as a conductor.  He was awarded various prizes, including the "British Brilliant Talent" award, "ProEuropa" ("for outstanding talent and contribution to the European art"), and was honoured with a fellowship by the Bank "Vontobel" in Switzerland and the "Banque Populaire" in France. In 2005, he entered the Graduate School of Arts in Zurich, Switzerland, where he followed the Bachelor’s degree to a graduate degree in harp (with Catherine Michel), in composition (with Mathias Steinauer) and in conducting (with Marc Kissoczy). Today, he meets a demanding schedule concertizing and giving master classes in Russia, Europe, Asia, South and North America, playing  his harp repertoire with his own works and transcriptions for harp.
